I have successfully completed my 5th missions trip to Russia! This trip included the cities of Moscow, Perm, and Chita. Chita is located in Eastern Siberia, near the border with Mongolia. This most recent trip was August 12 through 27, 2005. I taught, along with several others, at a week-long seminar for Russian church workers in Siberia. We taught them everything we could about starting and running Children's MInistry at their churches. This includes Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Summer Camps, Bible Quiz, etc. By special request of the Russians, we also presented material that will help them break the cycles of drug, alcohol and other life-controlling addictions which are rampant in their country. Details about this most recent trip are available in a "Trip Report" I have written and printed. It's 16 pages long, and it has lots of photos! All you need to do to get a copy is ask me for it and send me your mailing address.
PACKAGE UPDATE: In the past, I have sent hundreds of boxes to Russia containing clothing, toys and over the counter medicines to meet the requests of missionaries and church workers in Russia. However, I am no longer doing that due to many recent changes. First, I have found it extremely difficult to raise the money to continue sending boxes. Second, the U. S. Postal Service no longer allows sending packages to Russia by economical "surface" mail; all packages must now go by much more expensive "air mail", making it prohibitively expensive. Third, my contacts in Russia tell me that it is now much easier for them to get most of the items they need locally. What this all means is that: (A.) I am no longer collecting clothing or other items to go to Russia. (B.) I am no longer raising money to send boxes over to Russia.
However, I will continue to take more short term missions trips to Russia, myself. Each trip costs about $3,000 to $4,000, depending upon which parts of Russia I go to. If you would like to contribute to my next trip, please send your tax deductible donations to: Seacoast Chapel, 228 Buxton Road, Saco, Maine 04072-9550. Make the check payable to "Seacoast Chapel". Enclose a note that it's for "Russia Ministry."
